High School PageGRADES 9-12
High school is a time of adventure and digging deeper into understanding who we are. Kids are preparing themselves to launch into a big world. High school students begin to display some very powerful leadership qualities, and we seek to create opportunities that allow them to explore and hone these skills.
Our hope is that graduates will move into the next chapter of their lives feeling empowered and prepared to follow Jesus with courage.
Confirmation Class, open to grades 9-12, is an opportunity for high school kids to explore the basics of Christianity. We recognize that they are at a point in their lives when they are able to take ownership of their faith, making significant decision about what they believe. Confirmation concludes with an opportunity to stand before the congregation and make a public statement of what they believe. Those who complete the Confirmation program are then invited to participate in our New Member class and become members of First Church. Confirmation Class begins on Sunday, October 9, during the 11:00 worship hour, in Room 7.
The Way is our youth group for high school kids. We are a community of Jesus followers, growing together. Each week is filled with laughter, worship, fellowship, and an opportunity to explore more fully what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Every other week, we break up into small groups—Bromans (for guys) and Reign (for girls)—to dig deeper into God’s Word and prayer. The Way meets in Room 7, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Many of our High School kids are excited to dig deeper into God’s call on their lives. To support them, we’ve created a Student Leadership Community that meets regularly to explore these opportunities. Student Leaders are given significant opportunities to lead among their peers and in different settings throughout the church. For more details on connecting to this community, contact Pastor Todd.
