Love Your

God has called our congregation to go out into nearby communities to be His hands and feet, to show His love to those who might not know Him or know how much He loves them.  Let us answer His call by saying yes to Him and following His lead.

Part 1:

Serving Saturday

April 14
• Serving Projects
(sign-up info below)
• Dinner, 6:00 p.m.
(sign up in advance)

In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus teaches his followers to “Love Your Neighbor.” On Saturday, April 14, we are putting this command into action by offering a variety of opportunities to help out several local area ministries.

Below are some examples. Click on the ministries’ names to learn more about them.

  • Sparrow Ministries has direct contact with the poor and homeless in the Hartford area. You will have an opportunity to serve food or coffee, or minister to and pray with God’s people. [Call 860.529.1575 x213]
  • Hartford City Mission has the need for skilled and non-skilled people to help in its Vine Street and Glory Chapel locations. The skilled jobs might include taking shingles off of the Vine Street building and preparing for new shingles to be applied. One of the non-skilled tasks would be to help organize its library. [Call 860.529.1575 x213]
  • ABC Women’s Center in Middletown has a need for skilled and non-skilled people to help power wash their building’s exterior. We need at least 5 people for this job. A non-skilled task would be to help clean the inside of the facility. [REGISTRATION CLOSED]
  • World Vision needs non-skilled labor consisting of sorting and organizing its USA distribution center in East Hartford. [REGISTRATION CLOSED]

DINNER (Walk-ins are welcome) — The Mission & Outreach Committee is offering a no-charge dinner at 6:00 p.m. that Saturday (April 14) in Keith Jones Hall, with baked Caribbean chicken, rice and beans, garden salad, and rolls (regular and gluten free). [Please sign up at church or call 860.529.1575 x213.]  Following dinner will be our speakers, then desserts and coffee in the Wells Area, where our Missions tables will be set up. Our speakers are John Powers, who has led mission trips to the Dominican Republic since 1990, and a representative from ABC Women’s Center in Middletown.
