A word from Pastor Deryk:

Today is Ash Wednesday. I hope you can join us tonight for our service at 6:30, following our meal at 5:30. It is always a moving service.

NOTE: Grades 5-8 youth are invited by Family Ministry to attend tonight’s service (NO PF tonight), while Grades 1-4 WILL have their Kids’ Club tonight as usual.

Ash Wednesday is not a holy day in the Bible, but the themes of today are seen throughout it. Today we take time to focus our thoughts in three areas.

First, we remember our mortality. In the grand scheme of things our lives are short. We are told to seize the moment and live with purpose all our days because they soon will come to an end (Psalm 90:12).

Secondly, we are reminded of the beauty of repentance. Jesus calls us to repent and believe. He calls us to turn away from the ways of our former lives and join Him.

Finally, we remember with gratitude the work that Jesus did on the cross, to die for our sins. Yes, our lives are short and we have turned away from Him, yet He still came for us.

I hope you can be with us tonight at 6:30.
