Melanie is thrilled to be continuing on in the role of head teacher in the 4-day 4's class! She joined the First Church staff as an assistant teacher in 2024 and stepped into the head teacher position in 2025. Melanie particularly loves working with the 4's class because it is amazing to be a part of the growth of each student throughout the year as they gain confidence, develop skills, and become increasingly ready for that next big step! Melanie enjoys planning engaging activities to make learning fun and encourage curiosity and creativity. Prior to teaching, Melanie earned her bachelor's degree from UCONN and worked in various professional roles. She then spent many wonderful years as a stay-at home mom to her daughter who attended First Church for her preschool years. Outside the classroom, Melanie enjoys spending time with her family, especially their yearly trips to Cape Cod, volunteering at her daughter's school, and being a mom and an auntie.
